![]() ![]() General admission to Port Discovery is normally $19.95 for visitors age 1 and older, but PlayMakers lowered that cost to $3 per person for families with EBT or WIC cards. Under Parchman’s leadership, Port Discovery in May launched a new PlayMakers access program, reducing admission costs for low-income families. Parcham led the completion of a $10.5 million capital campaign for the museum, the construction and opening of new exhibits, the opening of the museum’s first temporary satellite location, and new in-person and virtual programs to continue serving patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic. ![]() Parchman aided the growth of the museum’s “state-of-the-art interactive educational exhibits” and programs, and helped “ensure that all children, especially those from under-resourced communities, have the opportunity to benefit from child-driven playful learning both in the Museum and throughout Maryland,” museum officials said. Museum officials said Port Discovery serves thousands of children each year, including at one time Parchman and her husband’s own children, now adults.
